1. START TO MILE 4

Following is a brief description of the new 50-Kilometer course

WADSWORTH STATE PARK IN FLAGLER BEACH TO
GAMBLE ROGERS STATE RECREATION AREA

Wadsworth Park is a beautiful county park on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway on S.R. 100 in Flagler Beach.  After crossing the start line, you will turn left at the park entrance and run the only hill on the course--on the sidewalk across the Intracoastal Bridge.  You may want to bring a camera when you reach the summit as the view of both the Intracoastal and the ocean from there is quite spectacular. What a start!  At the bottom of the bridge, you will turn right, crossing S.R. 100 at the Flagler Avenue traffic light.  At South 7th Street if you are uncrewed, turn left and go three blocks, then right on the A1A sidewalk. (If running with a crew or a team exchanging runners, continue straight on the sidewalk towards the tennis courts and the parking lot there.  After your meet-up, turn left on South 9th Street and go three blocks, then right turn on the sidewalk along A1A.  In a little over 2 miles you will reach the Aid and Timing Station at Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area.  The excellent Aid Station and parking area to meet your crew or exchange runners is across the road on the beach side.  Cross the road very carefully.

2. MILES 4-15

GAMBLE ROGERS TO ORMOND BEACH

After leaving Gamble Rogers and Flagler County, you enter Volusia County and continue on A1A through many beach communities with frequent beach access and eventual commercial areas (gas stations, restaurants, etc.) along the way.  After entering Ormond Beach, watch for the traffic light at E. Granada Blvd.  Your Mile 15 Aid Station and Timing Station is located in the shopping center lot just before the light on the right side.

At that traffic light, you will carefully cross the road and begin running on the ocean side through Daytona Beach until you reach Wilbur-by-the-Sea.

3. MILES 15-32

ORMOND BEACH TO PONCE INLET--THE FINISH!

Shortly after Ormond Beach, running on the ocean side sidewalk, you will arrive in the race's namesake, Daytona Beach, a very active urban area, passing the Convention Center, Bandshell, amusements parks and scores of beachside condos, hotels and other properties.  The route continues through Daytona Beach Shores.  There, at Mile 23.7, is Frank Rendon Park, where your final Aid Station and Timing Station are located.  From there, you'll continue on the ocean side for 3.3 miles until reaching very laid-back Wilbur-by-the-Sea.  There, you cross to the inland sidewalk into Ponce Inlet, a pretty and quiet town, and home to the tallest lighthouse in Florida at 175 feet--the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse!  You will remain on the ocean road (S. Atlantic Avenue) until turning right on Lighthouse Drive and right again on S. Peninsula Drive.  Then, just 1/4 mile away, at the base of the Lighthouse, is the "Kay and Ayres Davies Lighthouse Park"--your finish line.   Let the celebration begin.
